Community College Roundup : Cypress, Palomar Tie, 2-2, in Soccer
Cypress College, playing short two men for the final nine minutes Saturday, held on to tie Palomar, 2-2, in a nonleague soccer match at Cypress.
Cypress (0-2-1) got an early goal from freshman Willy Soriano (Cypress High School), and the Chargers took a 2-1 advantage on a penalty kick by freshman Medhad Faltas (La Serna) at the nine-minute mark of the second half. Palomar (0-3-1) tied the match at the 20-minute mark on a goal by Parris Krygsman.
Cypress, fielding its first soccer team in 11 years, plays host to Mt. San Antonio College today at 3:30.

Orange Coast 4, Golden West 0--The Pirates’ victory came in the championship match of the Palomar Invitational on Palomar Field.
Golden West earlier defeated El Camino, 4-3, in a semifinal match. Shannon Augustin scored twice for Golden West, and Kelli Winkler and Laree Larson each added a goal.
In water polo action:
Orange Coast 11, Modesto 8--Eric Keller scored three goals to lead the Pirates to a third-place finish in the Cuesta Invitational tournament in Cuesta College at San Luis Obispo. OCC was defeated, 6-5, by Long Beach City College in the semifinal match.
