CSUN Tops No. 14 Fresno State in Soccer

John Tronson scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory by the Cal State Northridge soccer team over Fresno State on Saturday night in a nonconference match before 1,777 at Bulldog Stadium.

The win was the Matadors’ first ever against the Bulldogs, ranked 14th by the Intercollegiate Soccer Assn. of America Division I poll, and broke Fresno’s four-game winning streak. Northridge is ranked 10th in the ISAA’s Division II poll.

Northridge (3-1-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by Joey Kirk. Fresno (5-2) tied it early in the second half when Femi Olukanni scored on a pass from Andrew Parker.
