Oates Did a Number on Raiders and Rams
Bob Oates is so good at making numbers serve his own purposes you have to wonder if he was ever an accountant.
He explains the difference between the Rams and the Raiders by implying that the Raiders have played tougher opponents. After all, he says, the Broncos, Redskins and Giants have a combined 8-1 record (after three weeks). But the combined record of the Broncos’ opponents was 0-9, the Redskins’ 1-8, the Giants’ 3-6.
So, if you’re going to decide who’s tough, you’ve got to analyze the teams, not the numbers. Take a hint, will you, Bob?
