San Diego Volleyball : Aztec Women Defeat Fullerton
No. 1-ranked San Diego State rallied to defeat Cal State Fullerton, 13-15, 15-2, 9-15, 15-4, 15-3, in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. women’s volleyball match Friday.
SDSU improved to 4-0 in the PCAA and 23-0 overall. Cal State Fullerton dropped to 6-12 overall.
Sally Larsen led the Aztecs with 18 kills and middle blocker Renee Pankopf added 13 kills and 6 blocks. The Titans’ Susan Herman led all players with 19 kills.
The Aztecs were playing without their starting setter, Liane Sato, who injured her knee against San Jose State earlier in the week. Freshman Melissa Stokes of Granite Hills High School filled in for Sato.
SDSU hosts No. 4 and defending national champion University of the Pacific tonight at 7:30 in Peterson Gym.
UC San Diego, ranked No. 1 among Division III schools, defeated Westmont, 15-11, 15-11, 13-15, 15-7, behind Jante Hughes’ 13 kills. Monica Bradley and Diana Klintworth added 12 kills apiece for the Tritons (22-3). Westmont dropped to 8-14.
