A 20-year-old National City woman was killed Friday evening when the car she was driving crossed a center divider and struck an oncoming car. Terry Crowell was dead on arrival at Paradise Valley Hospital at 5:20 p.m. after being injured in the accident in the 4300 block of Paradise Valley Road, a National City police spokeswoman said.
According to police, Crowell was driving about 60 m.p.h. in a construction zone with a posted 25 m.p.h. speed limit when she apparently lost control of the car, which crossed the highway median and collided with a car driven by Bruce Ecker of San Diego.
Ecker was listed in guarded condition at Mercy Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said. Ecker’s wife, Rita, a passenger in the car, was treated at Mercy Hospital and released.
