Desert Area Rocked by Mild Aftershock
From a Times Staff Writer
RIVERSIDE —
A mild temblor rippled through the Coachella Desert near Palm Springs early Friday and Caltech seismologists said it was one of thousands of aftershocks expected in the area where a 5.6-magnitude quake caused $2 million in damage July 8.
Friday’s temblor measured 3.5 on the Richter scale and was centered 17 miles west-northwest of Palm Springs, Caltech officials said. There were no reports of damage or injuries.
