Harbor Freeway Closures Planned for Construction

Share

All northbound lanes of the Harbor Freeway, between Century and El Segundo boulevards, will be closed during the early morning hours for three days starting Monday, and the southbound lanes will be closed later in the week for construction work on the Century Freeway/transitway interchange.

The California Department of Transportation said the northbound lanes will be closed from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and the southbound lanes will be closed during the same hours Thursday and Friday. An additional day may be required the following week to complete the work.

Northbound motorists will be routed off the Harbor Freeway at El Segundo, north on Broadway and back onto the freeway at Century. Southbound motorists will leave at Century, travel south on Figueroa Street and return to the freeway at El Segundo.

The closure will permit the Kasler Corp., the contractor for the $26.5-million construction job, to restripe the lanes and remove pedestrian overcrossings.

The 17-mile Century Freeway, running from Los Angeles International Airport to the San Gabriel River Freeway in Norwalk, is scheduled for completion in 1992.
