Moorpark Runs by Santa Barbara, 27-7
Dana Griffin and Robert Davis each rushed for a pair of touchdowns to lead Moorpark College to a 27-7 victory over Santa Barbara City in a Western State Conference game in Santa Barbara on Saturday night.
James Reaves returned the opening kickoff 82 yards to the Santa Barbara nine-yard line to set up a one-yard touchdown run by Griffin to give Moorpark (4-2, 3-0 in conference) the lead for good.
Griffin, who rushed for 149 yards and nine carries, added an 86-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to complete the scoring.
Davis, a sophomore transfer from Pierce who was the state’s third-leading rusher going into the game, ran for 83 yards on 15 carries, including a pair of three-yard touchdown runs.
Steve Haddad, another transfer from Pierce, got his first start as Moorpark’s quarterback and completed 9 of 15 passes with no interceptions for 96 yards.
