Quarterback Doug Flutie and the Chicago Bears...
Quarterback Doug Flutie and the Chicago Bears have reached verbal agreement on a contract for 1987 and 1988, but Flutie may play this season, according to Bob Woolf, Flutie’s attorney.
If the Bears want to activate Flutie this season, they would have to sign him to a contract for 1986, Woolf added. The contract for the next two years probably will be signed by Wednesday, and Flutie probably would be in Chicago by the end of this week, Woolf said. He can study the Bears’ playbook but cannot practice with them this year unless he signs a 1986 contract.
