The Cal State Northridge soccer team, ranked No. 4 in the NCAA Division II, remained undefeated in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. with an 8-0 win Wednesday at Cal State Bakersfield.
Joey Kirk, with two goals, led seven Matadors who scored. Kirk scored his sixth and seventh goals this season to tie John Tronson for the team lead. Tronson also scored Wednesday.
Tronson’s goal was the 42nd of his career. The senior forward is three shy of the Northridge record for career goals held by Jose Peres.
Steve Demaine, Jose Diaz, Rick Gora, Steven MacKenzie and Rodney Batt also had goals for the Matadors. Gora and Batt added assists.
Northridge (10-2-2, 4-0-1 in conference) has five games left in its CCAA season--all at home. The Matadors play host to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on Sunday in a 6 p.m. game at North Campus Stadium.
