The No. 3 UCLA soccer team set a school record last week by playing its fifth tie of the season, 1-1 against No. 17 San Diego State, but extended its school-record unbeaten string to 31 games.
Coach Sigi Schmid’s Bruins (8-0-5), missing firepower because of graduation and injuries, will play a rematch this weekend with American University, the team it beat last year for the NCAA title in eight overtimes, in a tournament at Clemson.
UCLA will face American on Friday and No. 19 Clemson on Saturday.
Against the Aztecs last week, Bruin Shaun del Grande tied the game on a penalty kick, netting his third goal in two games.
