Patterson Has Quicker Feet Than Johansson
Former world heavyweight champion Ingemar Johansson of Sweden completed the 8-kilometer Foot Locker Partners road race at Griffith Park Saturday in 1 hour 10 seconds, finishing 620th in the field of about 1,000.
The 54-year-old Johansson’s time was almost double that of friend and rival, former champion Floyd Patterson, who was timed in 32 minutes 41 seconds. Patterson, 51, finished 164th.
Marty Froelick of Colorado Springs, Colo., won the men’s race in 23 minutes 45 seconds, while Suzanne Eberly of Washington won the women’s race in 26 minutes 14 seconds.
