Jefs Spice, driven by William O’Donnell, raced to an unprecedented second Breeders Crown championship, setting a track record in winning the $470,850 3-year-old Filly Trot at Freehold, N.J.
Jefs Spice, who last year took her Breeders Crown division as a 2-year-old, was clocked in 1:59, breaking the record of 1:59 2/5 set by Britelite Lobell.
Saturday night, O’Donnell, capping a great day, drove favored Redskin to a 1-length victory over longshot Cue Light in the $1,513,500 Governor’s Cup at Garden State Park.
Driver John Campbell equaled a harness record with eight winners on the 12-race Freehold card.
