Showing no effects of a concussion suffered a week ago, Lito Soifua came off the bench to score three touchdowns as the Lobos snapped a two-game losing streak.

Soifua, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound senior running back, caught a 33-yard touchdown pass from Andy Baturevich and a three-yarder from Jim Siddall and ran three yards for another score as Los Amigos (1-2, 4-4) re-entered the playoff picture.

Despite not practicing all week, Soifua gained 48 yards the first time he was handed the ball and finished with 111 yards in total offense. He now has 11 touchdowns on the season.

“Coach (Art Michalik) got on us before the game because in our first two league games we didn’t play up to our potential,” Soifua said. “We were ready tonight, especially the line. They did a real good job.”

Mike Eicherly scored two touchdowns for the Lobos. The 6-feet, 195-pound senior swept the right side for a 20-yard scoring run on the first play of the second period and returned an interception 18 yards for the third of four Lobo touchdowns in the quarter.

Rancho Alamitos (0-3, 0-7-1) hurt its cause with turnovers and the lack of a passing attack. Vaqueros quarterback John Newsome completed just 9 of 24 attempts for 96 yards and was intercepted twice.

One of his completions, however, was a 25-yard touchdown pass to Charles Panusis. Reserve quarterback John Maae directed the Vaqueros on a scoring drive right before the end of the game, with Sean Cheatham scoring from four yards.
