Templeton Pursues Mark at Long Beach
Fullback Mark Templeton of Cal State Long Beach will continue his pursuit of Howard Twilley’s NCAA career pass receiving record when the 49ers play Eastern Washington today at 1 p.m. at Veterans Stadium in Long Beach.
Templeton, who caught 18 passes last week at Utah State, has a total of 225. He is averaging nine catches a game and has four games to play. At that rate, he would tie Twilley, who caught 261 for Tulsa.
This is Long Beach’s homecoming game. Eastern Washington spoiled the 49ers’ homecoming last season with a 30-23 victory.
