Troy 21, Fullerton 20--The Indians, who may have been looking ahead to next week’s showdown against Sunny Hills, were upset in Fullerton District Stadium. Troy’s victory snapped Fullerton’s six-game winning streak.

The Warriors (2-2, 7-2) built a 21-0 lead midway through the third quarter, but had to hold off the Indians, who scored three touchdowns in the final 15 minutes.

Fullerton kicker John Gilyard missed an extra point that could have tied the game with 5:17 remaining.

Indian quarterback Aaron Acton completed 11 of 21 passes for 261 yards. He threw 3 touchdown passes and had 2 passes intercepted. The final touchdown was a 54-yard pass to Brad Rice.

The Warriors scored on their first series, driving 73 yards in 12 plays. Chris Conway scored on a one-yard run. Quarterback Mike Pawlawski passed 39 yards to David Shirota for with 5:13 remaining in the half for Troy’s second score. Troy’s final score came on Karl Hess’ nine-yard run.

Fullerton (3-1, 7-2) rallied with a 21-yard touchdown pass from Acton to Ray Harrell. After stopping Troy, Fullerton started to drive again, but Acton was intercepted in the end zone by Pawlawski. Fullerton’s second score came on an 81-yard swing pass from Acton to Richi Burrell to make it 21-14 with 8:26 remaining.
