Top Seed Ousted in Teaching-Pro Tennis
Tony Trear of San Diego upset No. 1 seed Curt Stalder of Irvine, 7-6, 7-6, Sunday in the third round of the Southern California Teaching Professionals tennis championships at the Laguna Niguel Racquet Club.
The No. 1 doubles team of Stalder and Jim Harper of Mission Viejo defeated Mark Heffernan of Santa Monica and Terry Davis of Tustin, 7-6, 7-6.
The tournament continues Saturday.
