STATISTICAL WATCH : Kane Keeps Scoring Lead Despite Shutout Against Davis

Mike Kane of Northridge did not score a touchdown for the second straight game but still leads the Western Football Conference in scoring with a conference-record 72 points. . . . Northridge was once the conference leader in pass defense, but the Matadors have allowed more than 300 yards passing in each on their last three games, dropping to fourth.

Of the 10 individual categories in the WFC football statistics, Northridge and Portland--opponents Saturday night at North Campus Stadium--have seven. Portland quarterback Chris Crawford leads in total offense (243.7 a game) and passing (259.6), tight end Barry Naone of Portland leads in receiving (54 catches), Mike Erickson of Portland leads in the kick scoring (64 points) and Northridge’s Kane leads in rushing (130.4), scoring (8.0) and punt returns (11.3). . . . Northridge has allowed only 29 fourth-quarter points in nine games.

Dondre Bausley of Valley College set a school rushing record with 316 yards on 18 carries Saturday in a 47-14 victory over Antelope Valley. Bausley smashed Donald Barber’s record of 241 yards set in 1970. For his effort, Bausley was named a state JC player of the week. . . . Moorpark’s James Reaves is the Western State Conference’s leading kickoff returner, averaging 35.4 yards a return--almost 13 yards a return more than No. 2 Demetrius Smith of Santa Monica.

In women’s volleyball, Cheryl Wagner of Pierce leads the Western State Conference with 30 service aces. Moorpark’s Lynn Goldstein is second with 29, followed by Pierce’s Karen Suppan with 28.
