The Philadelphia Phillies removed four players, including pitchers Tom Hume, Dave Rucker and Rocky Childress and added seven minor leaguers to their roster to reach the 40-player winter roster limit.
The team said that Hume, 32, who was 4-1 with four saves and a 2.77 ERA with the club over 48 games last season, has filed for free agency but could still wind up in a Phillies uniform next year.
