Kentucky Signed 5, May Have Lost Big One
The University of Kentucky may have signed five high school basketball players to letters of intent Tuesday, but in the process the Wildcats may have lost Sean Higgins of Fairfax, the top prospect on the West Coast.
Among the prep stars signed by Kentucky was 6-6 guard Eric Manuel of Macon, Ga.
“I was thinking about that last night,” Higgins said Wednesday. “Eric Manuel basically plays the same position as I do. I might cross them out.”
Has he already?
“I think so,” he said.
Higgins’ press conference is still set for Tuesday morning. He apparently will decide among UCLA, Michigan, Louisville and Texas.
Meanwhile, guard Gerald Madkins a 6-4, 180 pound senior from Merced High School signed a letter of intent to attend UCLA, Coach Walt Hazzard announced. Madkins averaged 26 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4 assists in leading his team to 24-3 record last season.
