Another Con Job Is Foisted on the Public
Well, it’s Barnum time again. Along with Webster’s definition of farce , Hagler and Leonard should be included. It ranks with the time they matched Pete Rademacher with Floyd Patterson. Or Kid Gavilan with Chuck Davey. Better still, the time they gave Jack Dempsey that runt from France.
It doesn’t matter what the outcome, nor the fight itself. It is the con job that is foisted on the public again. As we all know, the $23 million obliterates any other reasoning. Pride doesn’t enter the thing. They don’t know the meaning of the word.
Hagler and Leonard don’t even know what they are fighting for . Even the $23 million doesn’t count; they already have it. The unfairness comes when one sees the young kids whopping each other in 10 or 12 fights a year, just for a consideration of a contender’s match. This idiotic matchup just might raise a little hell with the incentive for young fighters.
