OPERA PACIFIC CASTS FOR ‘PORGY AND BESS’

Opera Pacific has announced casting for Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess,” to be presented Feb. 11 to 15 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa.

Donnie Ray Albert and Mic Bell will alternate in the role of Porgy. Carmen Balthrop and Henrietta David will share duties as Bess. Crown will be sung by William Bradley-Johnson. Larry Marshall and Krister St. Hill will alternate as Sporting Life.

Priscilla Baskerville and Patricia Miller will alternate in the role of Serena. Marjorie Wharton will portray Maria; Julibant Sykes will be Jake.

“Porgy and Bess” is one of three productions to be mounted at the Performing Arts Center by Opera Pacific, under general director David DiChiera. Bernstein’s “West Side Story” will be presented Feb. 20 to March 8. Puccini’s “La Boheme,” as staged by composer Gian Carlo Menotti, will be performed on March 28 and April 1 and 4.
