The New York Jets, who have had their share of injury problems, will be without Pro Bowl defensive end Mark Gastineau for at least six weeks, the club announced.
Gastineau injured his left knee on the next-to-last play of the first half in Sunday’s 31-16 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Arthroscopic surgery was performed Monday. Gastineau’s injuries were described as a torn ligament and a partial cartilage tear.
The Jets already were playing without All-Pro defensive tackle Joe Klecko and defensive end Marty Lyons.
