Region : 2 Boys Die as Cave Falls In
Two boys were killed when the ceiling of a cave collapsed on them while they played along the banks of San Antonio Creek in the Santa Barbara County community of Los Alamos, 15 miles south of Santa Maria. A spokesman for the county Fire Department said the boys, who were not immediately identified, had evidently been completely buried for more than 15 minutes by the time the mother of one of them was able to run to a fire station to report the incident. Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene and unearthed the youngsters, who were 7 and 12 years old, with the help of about 20 adults who lived in the vicinity. But the boys did not respond to resuscitation efforts.
