Rancho Mirage Semifinals Are Postponed
Rain Saturday forced postponement of the semifinals of a $250,000 women’s invitational tennis tournament at Mission Hills Country Club.
Chris Evert Lloyd won the first game of her match with Canadian Carling Bassett, and the second game was tied 30-30 before play was halted. Martina Navratilova was to meet Stephanie Rehe in the other semifinal.
Both semifinals were rescheduled for today at 10 a.m. The winners will then meet at 2 p.m.
Lloyd and Navratilova received byes into the semifinals. On Friday, Bassett beat Bonnie Gadusek, 6-1, 6-3, and Rehe downed Mary Joe Fernandez, 7-5, 1-6, 6-3.
