Costa Mesa : Bicyclist Killed Running Red Light Is Identified

A 29-year-old bicyclist who was killed when he failed to stop for a red light was identified Sunday as Oscar Clemente of Costa Mesa.
Police Sgt. Bill Bechtel said Clemente was riding east on 19th Street about 3 a.m. Saturday when the accident occurred. A northbound driver, whose name was not released, struck Clemente as he rode through a red light at Placentia Avenue, Bechtel said.
The accident is still under investigation, police said.
Clemente was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6 a.m., Bechtel said.
