A 21-year-old man was fatally shot outside a tavern, and two suspects were arrested a short time later in the same neighborhood, police said Sunday.

The dead man, identified as Rene Roldan of Placentia, was shot once in the chest outside the Azteca Bar, Placentia police dispatcher Beverly Fuller said.

Officers summoned to the bar in the 300 block of West Santa Fe Avenue shortly after the shooting at 11:58 p.m. Saturday found Roldan wounded in the chest. The victim was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died a short time later, Fuller said.

Two men, one of whom was carrying a handgun and matched a description given by witnesses at the bar, were arrested “a few blocks from the shooting,” Fuller said.

Ignacio Calderon Martinez, 21, of Anaheim and Romulo Martinez Marcial, 19, of Placentia were arrested on suspicion of murder, questioned at the Placentia police station and then transported to County Jail, a jail records clerk said.

Jail officials said both men were being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
