A blind man was saved by his dog early Wednesday morning when he was awakened by barking in time to make it out of his burning house, a Fire Department spokesman said.
Officials estimated the damage at $75,000. There were no injuries.
William Young, 33, was alone in a house in the 2800 block of Copley Avenue in Normal Heights when the fire broke out at 3:30 a.m, the spokesman said.
Young shares the home with owner Kathleen Bayer, who officials said was out of town.
Arson officials are investigating.
