Capistrano Beach Girl, 8, Fights Off Attacker
An 8-year-old girl walking home from school Monday in Capistrano Beach was grabbed by a man but escaped after screaming, kicking and biting him, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
The spokesman said the girl, whom he did not identify, was walking near the residential intersection of Avenida de Las Palmas and Calle Monte on her way home for lunch when a man pretending to be examining his car engine grabbed her and tried to force her into the car.
After the girl bit him, he released her, got into his late-model, red sports car and drove off, the spokesman said.
The girl described the man as white, with short, white hair, about 33 years old, 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds.
