Car Crash Hurts 4 in Arleta Family

A 3-year-old Arleta boy was in critical condition at Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles Wednesday with injuries received in a traffic accident that also injured his parents and a sister Tuesday in Sun Valley, police said.

Blake Winnett was a passenger in a car driven by his father, James Winnett, when the car was struck from behind as it was about to turn left onto Tonopah Street from Laurel Canyon Boulevard, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Dennis Zine.

The father, 35, was treated at Serra Memorial Health Center and released, a spokesman there said. His wife, Bridget, 32, was listed in good condition at Sherman Oaks Community Hospital, where the couple’s infant daughter, Amandah, was listed in serious condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Raul Pena, 67, of Arleta, who was driving the van that struck the Winnett car, was treated at San Fernando Community Hospital and released, a hospital spokesman said.

Police were not seeking charges in the accident, Zine said.
