Private funeral services were held Saturday in Hillsborough, Calif., for women’s golf pioneer Helen Lengfeld, who died last week at the age of 88.
Lengfeld, named several years ago as one of the five most influential women in golf, was a top player in the 1920s, then helped establish prestigious women’s tournaments in the next three decades. These included the California Women’s Amateur, the California Junior Girls and the California Senior Women’s tournaments. In addition, she edited several publications on women’s golf.
