United States Football League owners said that their dormant league will be inactive again in 1987 while they continue their court fight to get more money from their antitrust suit against the NFL.

Commissioner Harry Usher said the league would file an appeal with the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn the award of only $3 in its $1.62-billion antitrust suit against the older league. He said he was optimistic that the jury’s decision would be overturned because of “erroneous instructions” to the jurors by U.S. District Judge Peter K. Leisure.
