Beer bottles thrown from a pedestrian bridge across the Pomona Freeway at passing motorists and Monterey Park officers resulted in the arrest by sheriff’s deputies of 20 members of an East Los Angeles gang. The gang members, ranging in age from 14 to 21, had been drinking on the overpass, according to Deputy Drew Basey. Two Monterey Park officers, the first on the scene, called deputies for assistance after gang members allegedly yelled and charged at them and hurled bottles in their direction.
