Share

Police mounted an intensive ground and aerial search Sunday following the stabbing of a 39-year-old man, but were unable to find the suspect.

The stabbing victim, identified as Benjamin Arabello of Stanton, underwent surgery Sunday at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange and was listed in stable condition following surgery.

The incident occurred shortly before 2:45 p.m. in a parking lot at Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue, police Lt. David Bunts said. Arabello was treated at the scene by paramedics from Stanton and Garden Grove and then transported to UC Irvine Medical Center, he said.

Investigators determined that the suspect was a 36-year-old man who was described as being about 5 feet, 7 inches tall. Bunts would not comment on whether police knew the identity of the suspect or whether a motive had been established in the stabbing.

Officers in patrol cars, assisted by the county Sheriff’s Department helicopter, combed the area looking for the suspect for several hours, but were unsuccessful.
