A 27-year-old Reseda man was arrested early Monday morning after he allegedly kidnaped a Malibu woman and her 3-year-old son and attempted to sexually assault her, police said.

Guillermo Ardon was arrested about 1 a.m. by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies after he drove through a red light in Carson with the woman and her son in the car, said police Sgt. Glen Barner.

He was held at the Police Department’s West Los Angeles station without bail Monday because he is a parolee from the California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi, Barner said. Ardon said he was released seven days ago after serving time for a robbery conviction, Barner said.

The mother, who was not identified, was loading groceries into her car at a Safeway store at Sunset Boulevard and the Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades when Ardon allegedly pulled a knife, forced her into the car and drove away, Barner said. Ardon attempted to sexually assault her as he was driving, Barner said.

Police said the mother and son were not injured.
