Local News in Brief : Northridge Man, 72 Killed Crossing Street
A 72-year-old Northridge man was killed Wednesday morning as he tried to cross a street in Northridge, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
The victim, whose name was not disclosed pending notification of relatives, was walking east across Lindley Avenue just south of Napa Street about 8 a.m., Officer Jay Taylor said.
He was struck by a southbound car driving lawfully on Lindley Avenue, Taylor said.
The victim died of head injuries a short time later at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, Taylor said.
The driver of the car, Steven L. Jackson, 39, of Chatsworth, was not injured, Taylor said.
