Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino has been forced to withdraw from the Pro Bowl game for the third time in four seasons to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
Marino, 25, has had four previous operations on the knee. This will be his third arthroscope, a procedure he has likened to “an oil change.”
“My doctor (Richard Steadman of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.,) has advised me to have the operation,” Marino said. “Unfortunately, I’ll miss the Pro Bowl (Feb. 1 at Honolulu). I have to go in now so I’ll be ready to go into training camp.”
