Woman Dies of Injuries From Air Crash
A Pacific Grove woman died Sunday of injuries she received in an air crash Saturday near San Luis Obispo that also killed her husband and the pilot of the airplane.
Witnesses said the Piper Comanche had just taken off from Oceano Airport when it developed engine trouble and crashed in an open field while trying to return to the runway.
Pilot Christopher Cormier, 29, of Marina, and co-pilot John David Franklin, 47, of Pacific Grove, were pronounced dead at the scene. Franklin’s wife, Martina, 50, and Cormier’s sister, Camille Marie Cormier, 24, of Marina, were taken to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital.
Mrs. Franklin died a few hours later, after surgery. Camille Cormier was reported in serious but stable condition.
