An 18-year old Boston high school hockey player was paralyzed after breaking his neck during a weekend hockey game when he plowed head-on into the boards.

Mike Maruzzi of Saugus High was in stable condition with a fractured vertebrae suffered Saturday during a game against Swampscott at Salem State College, said Norm Sherman, spokesman for University Hospital.
