Titan Wrestlers Beat San Jose State, 23-19
Cal State Fullerton came from behind to defeat San Jose State, 23-19, in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. wrestling match Wednesday in Titan Gym.
Trailing, 19-14, Fullerton closed to within two points when Mark Van Everen, who normally wrestles in the 177-pound division, moved up to 190 pounds and defeated San Jose’s Vince Wallace, 8-5.
A forfeit in the heavyweight division then made it 23-19 as Fullerton’s record improved to 8-6. San Jose fell to 4-6.
Fullerton’s Ardeshir Asgari, ranked No. 4 nationally, defeated Shane Baum, 13-8. Asgari’s record improved to 21-1-1.
