Silverado Canyon : Man Burned in Fire; Family Left Homeless
Thirty firefighters battled a house fire that took 45 minutes to control and left a man in critical condition and his family homeless, authorities said Thursday.
John Jordan, owner of the house on Wildcat Canyon Road, suffered second- and third-degree burns over 35% of his body in the blaze late Wednesday night. He was taken to UCI Medical Center’s burn unit, where he was listed in critical condition, a spokeswoman for the county Fire Department said.
Jordan was pulled from the house by an unidentified neighbor, who also called the Fire Department. Jordan’s wife and three children escaped from the two-story house through an upstairs balcony after they were unable to go down the stairs, Fire Department spokeswoman Kathleen Cha said.
The cause of the fire, which did an estimated $140,000 damage, is under investigation, Cha said.
