After hearing testimony from a 14-year-old Santee boy, a judge ordered the youth’s father and a woman to stand trial for arranging 23 sexual liaisons with the woman.

Clifford Wimberly, 36, of Santee and Carole Swenson, 23, of El Cajon were held to answer on 27 counts after a preliminary hearing in which Wimberly’s son was the sole witness.

San Diego Municipal Court Judge Fred Link drastically increased bail for Swenson, who had been free on $10,000 bail. Her new bail is $500,000, and she was arrested immediately.

Wimberly and Swenson are accused of either committing or arranging sexual intercourse, oral copulation and sodomy with the boy 23 times from 1984 to June, 1986.

Nine similar counts were dismissed for lack of evidence and because three of the occasions occurred outside San Diego County. A charge of furnishing marijuana to Wimberly’s 16-year-old daughter was dismissed because she did not testify.

The two also are accused of four counts of furnishing marijuana and crystal methamphetamine to the boy.

Arraignment was set for Feb. 4. Wimberly’s bail is still $500,000, and he remained in jail.

Drug charges against Wimberly’s wife, Victoria, 35, were dropped Dec. 29 when the boy and his sister refused to testify about being furnished marijuana. They cited their right against self-incrimination.

Since then, the son has been living in another home.
