Kent Wagner flirted with a 300 game before beating Pete Weber, 268-190, at Las Vegas to win the $175,000 Showboat Invitational for his first victory on the Professional Bowlers Assn. Tour.
Wagner, of Palmetto, Fla., opened the championship game with eight straight strikes. But he left a seven-pin standing in the ninth frame, halting his bid for 300 and a $100,000 bonus.
