Bronco safety Dennis Smith played in the Rose Bowl for USC in 1978 and ’79. This, by far, was his worst experience.

“Everything went wrong in the second half,” Smith said. “I thought coming in (at halftime) that we could have been up, 21-7. But I still thought we had a good chance of winning. Then, like I said, everything went wrong.”
