Strong Earthquake Jolts Sandwich Islands Region

GOLDEN, Colo. — An earthquake measured at 6.9 on the Richter scale rattled the floor of the South Atlantic near the South Sandwich Islands on Friday, but no injury or damage was reported, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
