Stefka Kostadinova of Bulgaria set a world indoor record in the women’s high jump, clearing 6 feet 8 inches in an international meet at Genoa, Italy.
She broke the mark of 6-8, set by Tamara Bykova of the Soviet Union at Budapest in 1983. The outdoor record is 6-9 3/4.
