Local News in Brief : Sylmar Driver Killed After Fall Onto Road
A Sylmar man driving a truck hauling concrete and gravel was killed when the truck hit a guard rail and he fell onto a freeway transition road in Culver City, the California Highway Patrol said.
The man, Ron D. Courtney, 26, was driving “at an unsafe speed” on the transition road from the eastbound Marina Freeway to the northbound San Diego Freeway when he lost control of the truck on Thursday and hit the rail at 3:10 p.m., Officer Monty Keifer said.
Courtney was pronounced dead a short time later at Brotman Medical Center in Culver City, Keifer said.
