Former National Basketball Assn. star Micheal Ray Richardson will not be able to play with an Israeli basketball team this summer because FIBA, the sport’s governing body, has refused to lift the ban that keeps him from playing overseas, according to a published report.
The New York Daily News said FIBA’s denial of his appeal means that the Richardson’s contract with a Tel Aviv team is all but worthless.
Richardson was barred from the NBA last season after violating the league’s drug policy.
