SDSU Women Rout Pacific, 80-52

SAN DIEGO — Despite a poor performance at the line late in the game, the San Diego State women’s basketball team easily defeated the University of the Pacific, 80-52, in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. game in the Sports Arena Thursday.
SDSU, led by Jessica Haynes’ 22 points, improved to 8-9 in PCAA action and 11-15 overall.
In the first half, UOP shot 35% from the field and trailed the Aztecs by as many as 10 points, 28-18.
UOP’s defense then tightened inside and came away with two steals to narrow SDSU’s lead to 49-45 with 11 minutes to play in the game.
But the Aztecs came right back, increasing their lead to 61-47. Sheri Edmonds had two key assists and three points in a 10-4 spurt midway through the second half.
