COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS : Russell Hits, Pitches Moorpark to 8-3 Win
Things haven’t been going Moorpark College’s way lately. The Raiders started the season with two wins but suddenly found that their hitters can’t get on base and their pitchers can’t keep anyone off.
But Moorpark (3-5) broke a five-game losing streak and avenged two earlier defeats to El Camino College with an 8-3 win Thursday at Moorpark.
Moorpark’s Eddie Hall broke a 1-for-21 slump with a two-out, two-run single in the second inning. Rod Stillwell added a two-run single and pitcher Dan Russell doubled to help his cause.
Moorpark Coach Ron Stillwell finally got a strong pitching performance as Russell allowed seven hits and one earned run in nine innings.
